Monitors and evaluates outcomes for students with disabilities. Assists in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEP). SALARY RANGE The salary range for this role can be found in the provided link: Salary Scales TRAINING Appoquinimink School District may require you to be trained in Safety-Care or a similar competency-based crisis prevention intervention training program as a condition of your continued employment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to the position. Displays content/pedagogy knowledge in designing instruction that matches state and district curriculum. Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's IEP. Provides instructional direction to paraprofessional support staff: assigns activities, provides guidance and instructional oversight. Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques. Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals. Maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and an atmosphere that promotes student learning. Keeps accurate records, tests, reports, etc. as required by Delaware Statutes and policies, Federal Regulations, School Board Policy and IEP requirements to monitor student progress. Establishes and maintains a positive, collaborative rapport and communication with students, school personnel and parents. Supports colleagues in differentiating instruction to meet the learning needs to students with disabilities. Collaborates with parents, administrators, and school staff to ensure the implementation of special education services, supports, and accommodations. Attends and serves as an integral part of the IEP team. Develops standards-based, measurable IEP goals based on data and individual instructional needs. Engages in ongoing monitoring of student progress through structured data collection. Establishes and maintains student control and discipline in the classroom, school premises or during school activities by communicating expectations of appropriate behavior.
