They work for the Primary Election in June and the General Election in November. **WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF ELECTION INSPECTORS ?** Inspectors set up the polling site. They make certain that voters are attended to and the voting process is carried out in a smooth and efficient manner. **ARE ELECTION INSPECTORS VOLUNTEERS?** The Wayne County Board of Elections pays inspectors for their service. $25 REQUIRED ANNUAL TRAINING AND AN ADDITIONAL $25 PAID AT PRIMARY ELECTION $240 PRIMARY OR GENERAL ELECTION **CAN ANYONE BE AN ELECTION INSPECTOR AND IF SO, WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS?** Any Wayne County registered voter that is 17 or older can be an Election Inspector. They are also required to speak, read, and write the English Language. Inspectors cannot serve in a district where a relative is on the ballot, nor be an elected official. **DOES IT REQUIRE A LOT OF TRAINING TO BE AN ELECTION INSPECTOR?** They are required to be trained and tested once a year. A flexible training schedule is held at the Board of Elections from spring to fall. Classes last about 3 hours. **WILL I BE WORKING WITH EXPERIENCED ELECTION INSPECTORS?** Every effort will be made to have experienced election inspectors at the poll site. We require approximately 250 inspectors to serve in Wayne County. **WILL I BE WORKING AT MY OWN VOTING LOCATION?** If there is an opening, yes, otherwise you will be placed as close to your own district as possible. **How do I sign up?** Contact the Wayne County Board of Elections Phone: (315) 946-7400 E-mail: elections@waynecountyny.gov **Serve your community.
