***\*This is a temporary, unpaid, non-benefitted position\**** The El Cajon Police Department runs an active Reserve Officer Program. Depending on the level of training and certification, an El Cajon Reserve Officer may work as an additional officer in a patrol car or provide support as a single person car. **For the position description, please visit our website:** [**Police Reserve (Unpaid)**](https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/elcajon/classspecs/1354386?keywords=police%20rese&pagetype=classSpecifications) Some duties include: •Providing patrol of the streets and highways by car, bicycle and on foot •Maintaining order and preventing crimes or juvenile delinquency •Directing traffic •Investigating complaints •Guarding and transporting prisoners •Writing reports •Issuing traffic and parking tickets You may be eligible to become a Reserve Officer if you: 1. Must be 21 years of age. 2. Possess a valid California Driver’s license 3. Meet United States citizenship requirements as defined under California Government Code sections 1031(a) and 1031.5 4. Have graduated from United States high school, possess a GED or California High School Proficiency Certificate. 5. No felony convictions as a juvenile or adult and cannot be on probation. 6. Must have a good character and reputation. 7. Must have either completed a basic police or reserve academy, or will complete a basic or reserve academy within 12 months of appointment. The applicant must take and pass a polygraph test, complete a background investigation, take and pass a psychological exam and take and pass a medical exam.
