Position Summary Carroll Middle School is seeking an innovative, student-centered PLTW STEM/Engineering Teacher to inspire curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. This position provides students with opportunities to explore engineering design, technology, mathematics, and real-world applications while developing critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills. The ideal candidate has a strong mathematics and/or science background and a passion for helping middle school students develop confidence as problem solvers and innovators through project-based learning. Teaching experience at the middle school level is preferred. Essential Responsibilities Teach PLTW courses. Design and facilitate engaging, hands-on, project-based learning experiences that integrate engineering, mathematics, science, and technology. Guide students through the engineering design process to solve authentic, real-world problems. Foster creativity, innovation, collaboration, and critical thinking in a student-centered classroom environment. Utilize instructional technology, engineering tools, and emerging technologies to enhance student learning. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and developmental needs of middle school learners. Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies and communicate student progress effectively. Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom and laboratory environment. Collaborate with grade-level teams and elective teachers to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities. Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues while contributing to a positive school culture. Participate in professional learning to remain current with best practices in STEM education and instructional technology. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Valid Indiana teaching license in mathematics or science or the ability to obtain appropriate licensure. Candidate would also be trained on the PLTW curriculum. Strong background in mathematics with the ability to integrate mathematical concepts into engineering and STEM instruction. Teaching experience is preferred. Knowledge of engineering design principles, coding, robotics, makerspace technologies, or related STEM fields. Experience facilitating project-based learning and collaborative student-centered instruction. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Passion for inspiring middle school students to explore STEM pathways and develop skills for future college and career success.
