The Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive, high-quality surgical and perioperative care to patients undergoing outpatient procedures. This role includes evaluating patients, performing surgical procedures within the physician's scope of practice, collaborating with anesthesia providers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals, and ensuring safe, efficient, and evidence-based patient care throughout the perioperative continuum. The Physician is expected to maintain compliance with all clinical, regulatory, and accreditation standards while contributing to quality improvement initiatives and promoting exceptional patient outcomes in a collaborative surgical environment. **Key Responsibilities** *of this role include, but are not limited to*: - Evaluate patients to determine whether they are appropriate candidates for outpatient surgery. - Obtain informed consent by explaining the procedure, risks, benefits, and alternatives. - Review medical history, medications, allergies, laboratory results, and diagnostic tests. - Perform the scheduled surgical or procedural intervention according to accepted standards of care. - Collaborate with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, nurses, and other clinical staff to develop and implement patient care plans. - Monitor patients for complications during and after the procedure. - Provide post-operative instructions and determine when patients are medically stable for discharge. - Arrange follow-up care and communicate with the patient's primary care provider or referring physician when appropriate. **Qualifications** - Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. - Completion of an accredited residency program in the applicable specialty; fellowship training may be required or preferred depending on the specialty. - Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the applicable state. - Board certification or board eligibility in the relevant medical specialty. - Current DEA registration and state-controlled substance registration, as applicable. - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is typically required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required for physicians treating pediatric patients. - Eligible for and able to maintain clinical privileges at the surgery center. - Demonstrated experience performing surgical or procedural interventions relevant to the center's scope of services. - Knowledge of ambulatory surgery regulations, accreditation standards, infection prevention practices, and patient safety protocols. - Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams. - Ability to accurately document patient care in an electronic health record (EHR). - Commitment to quality improvement, patient satisfaction, and evidence-based practice. *…
