We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Specialty Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Apex / IVX Health. The ideal candidate will have experience working with specialty medications and a strong understanding of pharmacy procedures. ABOUT THE ROLE The Pharmacy Technician works as a liaison between patients and healthcare organizations, with the primary role of ensuring patient safety while providing excellent patient service. This individual fields calls from patients, providers, and third-party payers, and helps to answer questions by listening, educating, and problem solving. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Ensures that patient’s pharmacy needs are fulfilled in a timely, accurate and service oriented manner. Verifies insurance information and obtains necessary preauthorization Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions; preparing labels; calculating quantities; preparing other pharmaceutical therapies Focuses on conflict resolution without blame; maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others' ideas and attempts new things Employs the interpersonal and advocacy skills necessary to deal with a diverse patient population successfully and professionally Ensures customer satisfaction by answering questions, resolving issues, and using proper phone etiquette; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics; Manages difficult or emotional customer situations. Responds promptly to customer needs; Responds to requests for service and assistance. Remains focused and on-task; delegates appropriately; able to multi-task; avoids distraction; meets deadlines Plans for action; maintains a strategic outlook; seizes opportunities to enhance personal and professional development; Sees projects through to their final stage Assists with training new employees as necessary Adapts readily when new roles and responsibilities arise during times of organizational growth Works inter-departmentally to promote organizational development Participates in Quality Management activities, provides input on areas identified as needing quality improvement, and reports to the Quality Management Committee as necessary Maintain patient confidence by operating in compliance with HIPAA, local, state, and federal guidelines, and the organization’s privacy policies REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS Ability to perform duties in accordance with the organization’s, state and federal policy and law Strong Interpersonal Skills, Written and Oral Communication Skills, Written and Oral Strong Data Entry Skills Ability to work independently under general supervision and effectively prioritize workload Ability to demonstrate workstyle flexibility and teamwork, including being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude Knowledge of basic medical terminology Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA and OSHA Knowledge and proficiency with standard office software applications including but not limited to Internet, Outlook, and Microsoft Office products REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, & EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in good standing, as required by the state(s) of practice.
