POSITION SUMMARY: The Personal Trainer is responsible for providing one-on-one fitness instruction to members. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Design and implement personal exercise programs for members tailored to their individual needs according to accepted fitness standards and practices 2. Provide one-on-one coaching and instruction for each period of exercise as arranged by the member and Personal Trainer 3. Ensure the safety and well-being of the individual member during each instruction period 4. Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service 5. Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA 6. Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants 7. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2. Personal Trainer Certification required. 3. Sound working knowledge of accepted fitness standards and practices. 4. Ability to develop and implement personal exercise programs. 5. Ability to provide fitness testing. 6. Ability to foster positive staff, peers, and program participants. 7. CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment. 8. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
