## Description **GENERAL SUMMARY:** Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Personal Care Attendant will assist in the care of residents by carrying out certain activities of daily living, recreational, dietary, and light housekeeping services in carefully selected situations. Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the needs of the individuals served. Type of Supervision exercised: none. Jobs reporting to this position: none. **EDUCATION:** High school diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of a training program that meets standards set by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Aging; ***OR*** experience listed below preferred. **WORK EXPERIENCE:** Minimum of one (1) year of Nurse Aide experience, including the ability to demonstrate competency in skill areas, may be substituted for training program listed above. **SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:** Must be cleared by PA State Police criminal history check. Must demonstrate competency in all skill areas included in the Personal Care Home directives or be willing to be trained. Must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid Certification. Must maintain the standards of care and implement the policies and procedures of Allied Terrace and Allied Services. Ability to read, write and carry out directions required. Must demonstrate maturity, ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job and a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick. Must practice good personal hygiene. Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective interaction with staff and residents. Must maintain confidentiality of resident information. Valid PA driver’s license and available transportation during all working hours preferred. **PHYSICAL DEMANDS:** Moderate Work: duties require exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally (approx 10-33% of shift), and/or up to 10lbs. of force frequently (approx 33-66% of the time), and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects (i.e., occasional patient transfers). Position involves bending, reaching, and stooping (occasionally in strained position) throughout shift. Ability to transport self throughout facility is required. **** **ACCIDENT OR HEALTH HAZARDS:** Occasional exposure to body fluids. Occasional chemical exposure from first aid supplies, resident prescriptions and some cleaning supplies. **WORKING CONDITIONS:** Works indoors with minimal noise exposure. Occasional exposure to odors. Occasional exposure to verbal (and potentially physical) assault by agitated residents or family members
