PE Instructor

## Description **Position Summary:** Through YMCA Programs, the Physical Education Instructor will instruct P.E. courses to school age children. This position will encourage physical activity, teach a variety of sports and encourage all children to have fun while being physically active. **Essential Functions:** 1. Prepare classes for program participants. 2. Must be knowledgeable and skilled in teaching a variety of techniques to others. 3. Adapt teaching methods to meet member's needs. 4. Must be able to control groups of children. 5. Must be patient with all ages and skill levels of participants. When necessary offer individual coaching and advise in accordance with YMCA guidelines. 6. Have a passion for teaching children. Motivate all program participants. 7. Must be able to keep participants safe and secure. 8. Provide an environment that will keep participants wanting to come back. 9. Be knowledgeable in nutrition and general healthy living. 10. Able to quickly create mentoring relationships with children. 11. Arrange equipment before class when necessary. At least 1 year experience in teaching Physical Education. 2. Preferably a bachelor's degree in Physical Education and teaching certificate. 3. Preferably certified in Home School Physical Education. 4. Must be enthusiastic, positive, resourceful, adaptable, patient and creative. **Physical Demands:** 1. Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction). 2. Acceptable hearing (with or without correction). 3. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. 4. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
