Payroll Specialist - Kansas City, KS

Heartland Traffic Services is a full-service line striping and pavement marking company providing high-quality highway, roadway, and parking lot striping services. Our employees take pride in their work because what they do matters. We are seeking a detail-oriented ***Payroll Specialist*** to join our team. The ***Payroll Specialist*** is responsible for processing payroll, maintaining timekeeping records, supporting certified payroll and prevailing wage compliance, and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. This position works closely with Operations, Human Resources, and Accounting to support daily payroll activities. ### What You'll Do - Process weekly payroll and reconcile employee timecards. - Monitor and maintain employee timekeeping records. - Resolve payroll and timekeeping discrepancies with employees and supervisors. - Support certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting. - Complete monthly payroll reports and required Department of Labor filings. - Assist with annual payroll activities, including W-2 processing. - Coordinate payroll garnishments with HR and Accounts Payable. - Maintain payroll records while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy. - Assist with other payroll and administrative duties as needed. ### What We're Looking For - High school diploma or equivalent required. - **3+ years of payroll processing experience.** - **3+ years of experience with timekeeping systems.** - Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel. - Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. - Strong communication and problem-solving abilities. - Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism. ### Preferred Qualifications - Certified payroll experience, preferably in construction. - Experience with prevailing wage projects. - Experience with QuickBooks Time, COINS ERP, or similar payroll software. - Knowledge of payroll tax regulations, certified payroll, and prevailing wage requirements. ### Why Join Heartland Traffic Services? - Competitive pay based on experience - Weekly paycheck - Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance - 401(k) with Company Match - Paid Time Off & Paid Holidays - Growth opportunities with a stable, growing company HTS is an Equal Opportunity Employer
