| | | --- | | **Job Summary** Working independently with minimal supervision of the Payment Services Manager, the Accounts Payable Technician IV serves as a senior-level specialist and departmental lead responsible for independently processing a high volume of complex invoices and payment requests. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and adherence to University, CSU, State, and Federal regulations while exercising strong judgment and initiative in resolving issues and improving workflows. Acting as a key resource and first point of contact for system-related matters, the Payment Technician IV also supports operational continuity and contributes to process improvements, training, and strategic initiatives within Accounts Payable. | | **Department Summary** The Strategic Business Services (SBS) division within Cal Poly's Administration & Finance organization provides vital services across the procure-to-pay lifecycle, travel coordination, enterprise risk management, and real estate operations. SBS supports daily operational needs while promoting innovative initiatives and strategic partnerships. Within SBS, the Payment Services – Accounts Payable (PSAP) team ensures timely and accurate non-payroll disbursements to vendors, suppliers, and university stakeholders. The team is essential to maintaining the university’s financial integrity and compliance with state and federal regulations. | | **Key Qualifications** Strong knowledge of accounts payable, financial record-keeping, office procedures, and accepted accounting principles, including advanced understanding of AP practices, rules, processes, and standards. Ability to apply, interpret, and enforce accounts payable procedures, guidelines, standards, and policies to resolve discrepancies and handle complex financial situations. High attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing documents, completing data entry, and preparing financial analysis and reporting. Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to compute numbers quickly and accurately and resolve complex transactional issues. Advanced proficiency with ERP/financial systems, document imaging, spreadsheets, word processing, web browsers, and records-management systems, including the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues and serve as the department's primary resource and first point of contact for system-related matters | | **Education and Experience** A combination of experience and education which has provided the above knowledge and abilities which at minimum includes equivalent to seven years of accounts payable experience or closely related financial recordkeeping experience. | | **Salary and Benefits** Anticipated Hiring Range: $71,376 - $80,376 per year Classification Range: $62,136 - $90,516 per year Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
