Resumes are not accepted in lieu of an application.** ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The City of Folsom's **Utilities** **Departmen** **t** is currently recruiting for a **Part-Time Maintenance Worker** to support the **Waste & Recycling** **Division**. The Waste and Recycling Division of the Utilities Department operates a residential door to door collection program for household hazardous waste by appointment. The current opening is primarily to assist with this program. **The ideal candidate has training and experience with the proper handling of hazardous waste, including waste properties and necessary safety precautions**. The program operates out of the city’s corporation yard. **Schedule** - Regular work on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. - Hours will be 15-20 hours per week. **Pay & Benefits** - Non-exempt, hourly rate. $16.90 - $26.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. - Part-time positions are hourly and not eligible for benefits, and are limited to working 999 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). No full-time regular appointment will be made from this class. Note: Unfortunately current active CalPERS members are ineligible for employment with temporary, part-time positions. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all the duties listed.** Waste and Recycling: - Clean, label, assemble, and repair waste collection containers in the corporation yard and at customer locations. - Deliver and remove waste collection containers from customer locations. - Assist with collection and unloading of household hazardous waste and bulky waste. - Assist with loading and unloading event supplies, including setup and cleanup for the events. - Perform other related duties as assigned. **NOTE: The level and scope of the knowledge and abilities listed below are related to job duties as defined under "Distinguishing Characteristics."** **Knowledge of:** - Safe work practices. - Basic methods, tools, materials, and equipment used in grounds and facilities maintenance; and waste and recycling. - Routine cleaning and maintenance of grounds, and/or other facilities. **Ability to:** - Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and correctly. - Follow oral and written instructions. - Maintain simple records and logs. - Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. - Effectively communicate verbally and in writing. **Education:** High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade. **Experience:** No experience is required. Experience with the proper handling of hazardous waste, including waste properties and necessary safety precautions is highly preferred. **License, Certificate, Registration Requirements:** Possession of, or the ability to obtain and retain, a California Class C driver license by the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. **Physical Requirements:** Work is performed in a typical office and field environment. (1) Mobility: frequent use of keyboard; frequent sitting for long periods of time; frequent standing, bending or squatting. (2) Lifting: frequently up to 50 pounds; occasionally up to 75 pounds. (3) Vision: constant use of overall vision; frequent reading and close-up work; occasional color and depth vision. (4) Dexterity: frequent repetitive motion; frequent writing; frequent grasping, holding, and reaching. (5) Hearing/ Talking: frequent hearing and talking, in person and on the phone.
