This role offers flexible scheduling with **12- or 24-hour shifts available**, providing an excellent opportunity to expand your clinical experience while working closely with experienced EMS and nursing staff. ### What You’ll Do - Provide patient care within scope of practice based on level of certification - Deliver Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Basic Life Support (BLS) care as appropriate - Safely operate ambulances in compliance with Iowa law and ACHS policies - Assess, treat, and transport ill or injured patients to appropriate facilities - Collaborate with other emergency response agencies to support patient care - Complete patient care reports accurately and in a timely manner - Maintain ambulance readiness through routine stocking, cleaning, and inspections - Perform minor vehicle maintenance such as fueling and fluid checks - Educate patients and families using approved educational materials when appropriate - Maintain professionalism and sound judgment in high-stress or emotional situations - Adhere to ACHS policies, safety standards, and quality improvement initiatives - Protect patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity - Assist outside of ER and ambulance care when needed ## Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent - Current **Iowa Paramedic or Paramedic Specialist certification** - Valid **Iowa driver’s license** with authorization to operate an ambulance - Current **BLS, ACLS, and PALS** certifications - Professional CPR certification - Knowledge of federal, state, and local EMS regulations and reporting requirements - Prior patient care experience preferred - Strong organizational and technical patient care skills - Must be insurable in the State of Iowa
