This position follows a paramedic-entry track: the employee is hired as a licensed paramedic and completes the required fire certifications, funded by the department, during the initial period of employment (see Minimum Qualifications). Must be able to drive and operate all fire and EMS apparatus. **Essential Task Functions** **Paramedic / Emergency Medical** - Responds to emergency medical calls; operates the ambulance under emergency and routine conditions to transport patients to hospitals and other facilities; uses radio communications to send and receive information. - Evaluates patient condition, injuries, and the scene, and provides advanced life support (ALS) patient care consistent with the current National Registry Paramedic scope of practice, Utah EMS protocols, and department medical direction. - Monitors patient status and provides continuous care through transfer to the receiving facility. - Prepares and submits patient care reports and related documentation. **Firefighter** - Responds to fire and emergency alarms as a member of a firefighting team; performs fire suppression, rescue, salvage, and overhaul; operates hose lines, nozzles, ladders, SCBA, and hand and power tools in both training and actual incidents. - Receives ongoing classroom and field training in fire prevention, firefighting, hazardous materials, rescue, and related emergency operations, and participates in regular drills. - Conducts fire prevention inspections and assists with fire investigations as assigned, and prepares related reports. ***Firefighting duties are assumed as the required certifications are completed during the initial employment period.*** **Public Relations** - Participates in public presentations, station tours, community events, and outreach to promote fire safety and prevention. **Minimum Qualifications** **Education and Experience**: ***Required at the time of employment:*** - High School Diploma, or e…
