We’re looking for a **Paralegal** to join our **Legal Affairs** team! Completion of an approved Paralegal or Legal Assistant program approved by the American Bar Association (ABA), or at an accredited college or university; OR Possession of a Certified Paralegal (CP) certification issued by the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc.; OR A Juris Doctorate. NOTE: Disbarred attorneys and those who have permanently resigned from the practice of law in lieu of discipline may not be hired in any position in connection with the practice of law. Suspended attorneys or an attorney transferred to disability inactive status during the period of suspension may not be hired in any position in connection with the practice of law unless such hiring is first preceded by the submission of a fully executed registration statement to the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, on a registration form provided by the Louisiana Disciplinary Board and approved by the Louisiana Supreme Court. The hiring agency is responsible for conducting the necessary background checks prior to appointment.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found [here.](https://apps01.civilservice.louisiana.gov/onestopjobinfo/DisplayJobSpec.aspx?JobCode=165640) **Job Duties:** In this role, you will: - Conduct legal research for attorneys finding and analyzing, legislation, statutes, and court decisions applicable to policy issues. - Compile information related to legislative actions and other policy related matters Drafts letters, documents, and other correspondence by telephone on policy matters. - Schedules meetings, conferences, travel and various other appointments for assigned attorneys and staff. - Research and examine authorities on points of law in connection with the preparation of issuing policy statements, state and federal tax laws, regulations, court decisions. **Position-Specific Details:** **Appointment Type:** Probational, Promotional, Job Appointment, Detail to Special Duty or WAE **Career Progression:** This position may be filled as an Paralegal 1 or 2. **Compensation:** The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. **The Paralegal 1 (AS-613) has a starting rate of: $19.31/hourly; $1,544.80 biweekly.** **The Paralegal 2 (AS-615) has a starting rate of: $22.10/hourly; $1,768.00 biweekly.** This posting may be used to fill vacancies in other divisions available within the Louisiana Department of Revenue within 90 days of the closing date. A Tax and Natural Disaster Clearance will be conducted on all selected applicants to validate the timely submission of tax returns and payments.
