The school caters to pupils aged 2 to 19 with a wide range of needs, including speech, language, and communication difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. Additionally, the role involves working at a nearby junior setting (Years 3–6) that employs a multisensory, holistic approach to learning, with strong connections to nature, sustainability, and real-world themes. As a Therapy Assistant, you will work closely with qualified Speech and Language Therapists to support the delivery of therapy interventions, helping students achieve their full potential in a supportive educational environment. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will: Assist in delivering individual and group therapy sessions under the guidance of qualified therapists. Implement therapy interventions and produce resources to support students' communication development. Develop therapeutic relationships with children to encourage engagement and progress. Monitor student progress and provide feedback to therapists and educational staff. Liaise with parents and school staff regarding children's needs and progress. Maintain accurate and confidential records of therapy sessions and student progress. Contribute to the preparation of training materials and support the induction of new staff. Qualifications & Experience Essential: Recognised training in Special Educational Needs (desirable). Experience working with children with complex needs (desirable). Strong interpersonal, flexible, and team-focused attitude. Ability to work independently while following therapist guidance. Physically agile and able to work therapeutically at floor/table level.
