Job Title: Locum Speech and Language Therapist – Autism Assessment Service – Birmingham Banding: Band 6/7 Location: Multiple sites across Birmingham Start Date: ASAP Rate: £24.00–£32.00 per hour Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time considered Contract Duration: 3 Months Job Overview We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to join a multidisciplinary Autism Assessment Service across Birmingham on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist with experience in autism assessments to support children and young people through a comprehensive diagnostic pathway. Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team (MDT), you will play a key role in delivering high-quality autism assessments, contributing specialist clinical expertise to ensure accurate and timely diagnoses. This flexible locum opportunity is available on either a full-time or part-time basis for an initial three-month contract. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will: Complete autism assessments for children and young people as part of a multidisciplinary team. Lead and contribute to diagnostic assessments using specialist clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice. Carry out Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) assessments as part of the diagnostic pathway. Work collaboratively with professionals across the MDT to support clinical decision-making. Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with professional standards and service requirements. Provide specialist communication assessments to support autism diagnoses where appropriate. Qualifications and Experience To be considered for this role, you must have: A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent). HCPC registration. ADOS training with proven experience conducting autism assessments. Previous experience assessing children and young people for Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
