ABVP preferred - D.V.M. licensed in Florida - D.E.A licensed in Florida - Experience as a D.V.M. in a practice is desirable, but not required. - DEA registration must be maintained - Liability Insurance - A minimum of two years of previous ER experience or four years of clinical practice experience - Experience with managing critical and advanced medicine cases. - Flexibility to be available at various shifts/times - Must demonstrate desire to continue learning in veterinary care and participate in leading staff training ## ***Required Skills/Abilities:*** - Significant continuing education achievements, beyond licensing requirements. - Ability to recognize that teamwork is essential for a quality practice; ability to work as a team member as well as a doctor. - Working knowledge of and interest in the business aspect of veterinary practice. - Willingness to stay after hours or work extra hours when needed. - Interest in marketing and growth of the practice. - Display tact and diplomacy with staff members and clients. - Perform basic computer skills, type 30 words per minute. **** ***Physical Requirements:*** - **Physical Effort**: Work requires lifting and carrying animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs). Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent position. - **Working conditions**: May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases. **ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS** 1. Noise from barking/crying dogs and cats 2. Danger of being bitten or scratched by small animals 3. Exposure to: Toxoplasmosis Leptospirosis Giardia Gas anesthesia Cleaning Products Radiation Drugs and chemicals under OSHA Rabies Euthanasia drugs Other potential zoonotic diseases
