About the role As DBA, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the organization's relational database systems. This role will ensure the integrity, availability, and performance of critical data to support business operations and decision-making processes. The DBA will work closely with IT teams, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver efficient and scalable database solutions that meet the organization's current and future needs. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in Oracle database management systems, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to translate business requirements into effective relational database solutions. This role will be critical in maintaining the organization's data infrastructure, enabling data-driven decision-making, and ensuring the optimal performance of mission-critical applications across the enterprise. This role is expected to work on-call shifts. What will you be doing? Develop database schemas, tables, and indexes to optimize performance and ensure data integrity. Implement and maintain database security measures, including user authentication, access controls, and data encryption. Analyze and interpret database performance metrics to proactively identify areas for improvement Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database software and related components across development, testing, and production environments. Perform database upgrades, migrations, and patching (PSU/RU) while minimizing downtime. Manage Oracle homes, database instances, and listener configuration. Plan and execute database version upgrades and compatibility changes. Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues such as slow queries, database locks, and resource contention. Maintain and review AWR/ASH-like diagnostic reports or equivalent monitoring data available in SE2 environments like sp-reports. Identify and address performance bottlenecks through query optimization, index tuning, and database configuration adjustments. Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data availability and integrity. Configure and maintain RMAN backup strategies including full, incremental, and archived log backups. Regularly test database recovery procedures to ensure disaster recovery readiness. Document and maintain disaster recovery plans and recovery time objectives (RTO/RPO). Manage tablespaces, data files, redo logs, and archive logs. Perform capacity planning and forecasting to support future growth. Optimize storage allocation and database layout to improve I/O performance. Manage user roles, privileges, and access policies following least-privilege principles. Ensure compliance with data protection policies and regulatory requirements. Develop automation scripts (Shell, Bash, Python, or SQL scripts) for routine administrative tasks. Automate backup verification, monitoring checks, and maintenance tasks.
