Occupational Therapist

## Overview - Demonstrates an enthusiastic, motivating attitude and approach towards patients and staff while showing genuine respect and courtesy. - Is challenged by change, recognizes need for change, views constructive criticism as a tool for improving self as well as patient care. - Improves current level of expertise by participating in continuing education. - Assists in establishment and implementation of departmental policies and procedures, continuous quality improvement, patient education, and program development. - Provides information to the patient and obtains the patient’s informed consent in accordance with jurisdictional law before initiating Occupational Therapy. - Establishes an individualized plan of care with appropriate, measurable, short-term goals in accordance with evaluation findings. - Consults with physicians and other related medical disciplines regularly and timely concerning treatment plans, progression or regression of anticipated goals, and discharge planning. - Administers treatment complying with the OT Practice Act, facility and departmental guidelines. - Continues OT justified either by evidence of problems that necessitate treatment or expected improvement in functional ability. - Provides home care education and instructions and assists in discharge planning. - Provides care to patients of all ages with varying diagnosis (es) admitted to the Heart of America Medical Center. - Modality treatments are administered according to accepted standards paying particular attention to indications and contraindications for specific medical diagnosis and considering patient tolerance and response. - Therapeutic exercise treatments are administered according to accepted standards paying particular attention to indications and contraindications for specific medical diagnosis and considering patient tolerance and response. - Activities of Daily Living treatments are administered according to accepted standards paying particular attention to indications and contraindications for specific medical diagnosis and considering patient tolerance and response. - Involves patients and family in treatment planning, home programs, and discharge planning as appropriate. - Fabricates and orders splints, supports, braces, and durable medical equipment as appropriate with thorough patient and family instructions as necessary. - All other duties as assigned. ## Description - Onsite daycare at a $1.50/hr rate - Daycare assistance for other licensed daycares - Tuition assistance - Support small acute care that currently maintains under 8 patients and a LTC that is around 20 patients - No set productivity standards and willing to work with new grads to gradually increase caseload - Open 7:00 am to 5:00 pm - Full-time is 36 hours per week - Rotating weekends—averages of 5 Saturdays a year to see the current inpatients. HAMC provides therapy outreach services to clients in private homes, schools, correctional centers, rural clinics, nursing homes, workplaces, and more. ## Requirements - Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy, licensed in the state of ND, and maintain continuing education requirements of at least 20 contact hours within the 24 months prior to the renewal of licensure. - Licensed with NBCOT. - Must have completed at least six months of fieldwork.
