Nurse Manager - Oncology

Our multi-disciplinary team approach includes surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, women's centers, diagnostic imaging services, social service support, nutritionist, integrative services, and genetic counseling. **Mission Statement:** To serve the community by providing quality, comprehensive cancer care which respects the values and needs of each individual. **Overview:** *We are looking for an experienced, motivated, professional, friendly, and patient-focused Oncology Nurse Manager to work in our fast-paced and rewarding environment. This position is a working manager role, is located in our Mesa office and allows for excellent potential for professional growth.* **Essential Job Responsibilities:** - Maintains chemotherapy protocols. - Facilitates dose modifications according to physician and protocol guidelines. - Assess patient for changes in conditions, including, but not limited to, abnormal labs, x-rays, scans, drug reactions, and initiates appropriate action. - Document patient data, including, but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medication and patient condition changes, patient teaching, medication administration in chart. - Maintain efficient patient flow through chemotherapy area. - Triage patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in patient’s chart. - Manage patient medication refills and document in chart. - Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. - Acts as resource to other medical and office staff. - Follows OSHA guidelines for Chemotherapy agents, bio-hazardous waste, and any potential blood borne pathogen. - Completes charge encounters accurately. - Creates Nursing schedules weekly and evaluates staffing requirements. - Counsels RN/MA and Pharmacy staff regarding deficiencies or needed areas of improvement. - Provides Clinical guidance, evaluates and assesses RN performance and educational opportunities. - Audits RN/MA staff performance Via retrospective chart audit. - Audits Pharmacy tech via direct supervision of mixing, storage and inventory techniques. - Participates in monthly Pyxis reconciliation and works to resolve discrepancies. - Helps to run RN meetings. - Creates written clinical protocols for RNs. - Works as a liaison between physicians and RNs to assure clinical effectiveness. - Creates and maintains orientation program for new RNs and MAs. - Responsible for ongoing training of Clinical staff as it relates to EMR. **Knowledge and Skills:** - Strong supervisory skills. - Knowledge of infusion pump operation and maintenance. - Maintain patient confidentiality. - Maintains clean work environment. - Excellent customer service skills, both verbal and written. - Computer skills and typing are essential. - Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office required. - Excellent knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations. **Requirements:** - Oncology experience required. - RN State license and current registration with State Board of Nursing. - Current CPR certification required. - Associate Degree in Nursing.
