This position will be responsible for teaching beginning strings to 5th graders at several elementary schools within the district. The candidate should possess a strong background in string instruments as well as be a proficient string instrument player. An active and valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification is required for this position. Prior experience as a music teacher is also preferred. Candidate must have a thorough knowledge of the physical and psychological aspects of elementary school-aged children and good communication skills. Must understand and be able to teach the approved curriculum. Responsibilities Include: Planning and delivering effective music instruction (strings) aligned to National Music Standards Utilizing data-informed instructional practices and formative assessment to support student learning Creating a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement and high expectations Willingness to work with other professionals in the the music department Collaborating with colleagues in professional learning communities (PLCs) Integrating instructional technology and best practices in music education Communicating effectively with students, parents, and staff Participating in professional development and school-based initiatives Thorough knowledge of the physical and psychological aspects of elementary school aged children. The professional candidate(s) selected for this assignment understands and agrees that they may be required to teach in a blended or online format as requested by administration.
