- Do you love inspiring youth through music? - Looking to make an impact within your community? - Is your workplace’s commitment to a healthy work culture important to you? **Join DFYF’s team that is inspiring hope, strengthening families, and restoring communities!** **We are seeking a part-time Msic Instructor at our Afterschool Program.** ### **What You'll Do:** - Use your passion and creativity to teach youth various musical instruments and vocal techniques - Educate and instruct youth ages 8–18 in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment - Develop music lesson plans and curriculum - Lead rehearsals and coordinate musical performances - Teach music theory concepts including rhythm, melody, harmony, timbre, form, texture, and dynamics - Foster creativity, confidence, teamwork, and self-expression through music **Schedule:** Monday - Friday, 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. during the school year & 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. during Summer months **Location:** Columbus, Ohio **Qualifications:** - Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Music preferred, or specialized music training - Knowledge of various musical instruments including piano, percussion, vocals, guitar, and steel drums - Strong understanding of music theory including rhythm, melody, harmony, timbre, form, texture, and dynamics - Experience teaching music, leading rehearsals, and working with youth required - Strong computer and organizational skills - Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation ### **Who we are:** Directions for Youth & Families offers community-based mental health and prevention services that utilize a resiliency-oriented and trauma-informed framework. DFYF’s programs are divided into three categories: Treatment, Prevention, and Education. DFYF offers specialized mental health, kindergarten readiness, afterschool, and summer programming to meet the diverse needs of our youth and family population. DFYF proudly serves over 8,500 youth, adults, and families each year.
