QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a valid California teaching credential Possess EL Authorization, CLAD, or BCLAD Advanced training / education is desirable. Classroom teaching experience in K-8 is desirable Bilingual ability is desirable. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Primarily responsible for meeting curriculum requirements adopted by the Board of Education Provides planned learning experiences in order to motivate pupils and best utilize the available time for instruction. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports and communicates with parents regarding their child’s progress. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems. Provides a functional and attractive environment in the classroom. Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities. Performs basic attendance accounting and business services as required. Participates cooperatively in the system of evaluation as stated in the district’s guidelines. Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees as agreed upon. Plans and coordinates the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals as appropriate. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the district testing programs. Develops current lesson plans (daily or weekly) and instructional materials that provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
