**RESPONSIBILITIES:** **Supervisor** 1. Supervises all clinical and ancillary personnel involved in Endoscopy, Operating Rooms and Sterile Processing. 2. Monitors staff lateness and attendance and documents on staff records. Communicates with all staff so their reporting time is clear each day. 3. Provides effective supervision and direction of all phases of the clinical nursing function in the Operating Room. 4. Complete staff evaluations in conjunction with Director. 5. Will balance staffing needs and efficiency while limiting overtime. **Relationships** 1. Serves as the formal liaison between the members of the surgical staff and the surgeons & Anesthesiologists along with any contracted service providers & sales representatives supporting the daily cases 2. Represents the Operating Room nursing function in institutional planning and provides periodic reports on the status of surgical nursing care being provided in the Surgery Center. 3. Collaborates with the Director of Nursing and other members of the management team to establish and maintain standards and expectations for the Operating Room. 4. Collaborates with the Admin., DON, BOM, Scheduler and Pre-op/PACU Manager to assure correct staffing and supplies for all cases. 5. Schedules and attends a weekly meeting with the Administrator and Director of Nursing. Meets informally day to day as needed. **Day to Day Operations** 1. Works closely with all leaders to manage the day-to-day, week-to-week and long term outlook for cases. This includes staffing, equipment, education and regulatory preparedness. 2. Communicates closely with the Scheduling Coordinator regarding types and number of cases scheduled on each day. 3. As each day progresses, will keep all leaders up to date on any necessary changes that have or will need to occur (Ex: calling patients to delay arrival) 4. Affords efficient flow of procedures by monitoring surgeon availability, on time arrival, and informing surgeons of any delays. 5. Updates all operating room changes so that our Electronic Health record reflects patient flow and is accurate. 6. Collaborates with the Materials Management department on equipment, implants, and trays needed for upcoming cases. This includes returning equipment. 7. In collaboration with the DON, coordinates X-Ray needs and communicate with (Scheduler) and Radiation Technicians. 8. Evaluates staffing relative to patient acuity and makes adjustments as needed. 9. Competent and able to circulate in all types of cases. Assists with patient care when required. This includes turning over rooms. 10. Provides safe environment for patients, physicians, and staff. 11. Collaborates with SPD/OR/Materials for efficiency. 12. Assists all physicians with mastering the electronic health record, documentation and surgical notes. **Policies/Budget/Education** 1. Develops policies and procedures to provide quality nursing care and maintains optimal professional conduct and practice in the Operating Room complex. 2. Ensures the nursing policies, procedures and practices in the Operating Room are consistent within the nursing team to ensure standardized practice. 3. Participates in the development, allocation, and administration of the Operating Room nursing budget, ensuring adequate resources are available to accomplish the objectives and goals of the Operating Room. 4. Work with Materials Management to monitor cost containment for supplies and inventory 5. Reviews all procedures requiring surgical nursing care throughout the Operating Room complex to ensure that patients with the same health status and condition receive a comparable level of quality of surgical nursing care. 6. Establishes and implements standards of nursing care and mechanisms for evaluating such care in the surgical nursing areas. 7.
