# Job Title: Mentor # Status: Full-time, non-exempt # Location: Swissvale, PA # Reports to: Supervisor, POWER Connection ## About POWER POWER is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to helping women reclaim their lives from addiction. We provide trauma-informed treatment and recovery support services for women with substance use and co-occurring disorders, fostering a safe, supportive environment where women can heal, grow, and build lasting recovery. ## Why This Role Matters The Mentor, is a critical role in supporting women in recovery by providing peer-based, non-clinical services rooted in lived experience. This position helps individuals navigate recovery by offering guidance, encouragement, and connection to community resources. Through relationship-building, mentorship, and skill development, the Mentor empowers clients to make recovery-oriented changes and build sustainable, healthy lives. ## What You'll Do Client Engagement & Recovery Support - Provide ongoing recovery support services to approximately 20–30 individuals - Conduct outreach and use assertive engagement strategies - Build trusting relationships and motivate clients - Model healthy recovery behaviors Recovery Planning & Skill Development - Complete needs assessments and develop Recovery Plans - Monitor progress and review plans regularly - Teach recovery and life skills - Empower clients in their recovery journey Resource Navigation & Community Connection - Connect clients to community resources - Assist with accessing services and support networks - Provide education on self-help groups - Promote multiple pathways to recovery Collaboration & Care Coordination - Partner with providers and agencies - Work with internal teams - Support treatment engagement - Participate in meetings Documentation & Administrative Responsibilities - Complete documentation accurately and on time - Maintain records per policy - Participate in training and outreach ## What You Bring Required - Must be at least 18 years of age, have a minimum of 4 years' experience living with a substance abuse disorder, and a minimum of 4 years' of demonstrated recovery time. Must be willing to share personal recovery experience - High school diploma or GED - Valid driver's license in good standing - Reliable vehicle and motor vehicle Insurance - Act 34, 33, and 73 Clearances - Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and sharepoint navigation - CRS (Certified Recovery Specialist) credential required; or ability to complete required training for subsequent certification by the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB) within three months of hire. Preferred - Two years' work history in a behavioral health care environment preferred - Knowledge of ROSC and trauma-informed care - Strong communication and organizational skills - Ability to work independently and with all types of people - Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and sharepoint navigation - Demonstrate sensitivity to the complexities of problems with alcohol and other drug use and the challenges of recovery - Open to multiple-pathways approach to treatment and recovery services **Working Conditions** - Ability to work and deliver services in the community; including but not limited to client's homes, CYF offices, health care facilities/hospitals, the Allegheny County Jail, and other locations throughout Allegheny County. - Ability to maintain a reliable vehicle and travel daily for the role.
