Under the general supervision of Director of Behavior Supports, the incumbent in this position must have the ability to conduct functional analysis of behavior, develop behavioral interventions, write and demonstrate behaviorally based intervention plans and other therapeutic interventions, conduct data analysis, interpret results, use formal and informal assessment methods, work with an interdisciplinary environment, assume clinical responsibility for caseload, write reports on databased behavior change, work, communicate effectively with a variety of professionals and paraprofessionals. - Develop/transcribe Behavior Support Plans (BSP's), Drug Plans, Called Team Meeting (CTM's), and T-Logs, for assigned consumers. - Counsel consumers on a daily basis and respond to emergency behavioral situations as needed, assisting Campus Support Coordinators (CSC's) and assigned staff in de-escalating behaviors using the least restrictive methods. - Consults with other professionals including physicians and psychiatrists regarding behavioral and psychotropic medication regimes. - Provide in-service training to staff on behavioral and therapeutic interventions strategies as needed. Also provide in-service training of BSP following staff observations which indicate a need for more didactic training. This may require modification in work schedule in order to train staff on alternate work schedules. - Planning and implementing Therapy Programs. - Serve as a secondary examiner for assigned forensic evaluations. - Supervise the work of departmental staff in the absence of the Director of Behavior Supports. - Other duties as required. The position for this posting is located at Coastal Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Summerville, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field and professional experience in a mental health, human service or social service program. Practical therapeutic knowledge of principles, methods, counseling practices, and procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral and mental disorders. Ability to listen and understand and communicate information and ideas so that others will understand. Knowledge of psychopathology, family dynamics, and individual, family and group psychotherapy. Ability to identify and effectively utilize resources available in the community to accomplish objectives. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, families and representatives of other professional disciplines.
