Greets, screens, and directs patients, visitors and internal customers. 2. Performs secretarial/clerical duties including medical transcription, composition, and dictation. 3. Prepares and processes correspondence. Answers routine medical inquiries and drafts letters. 4. Performs medical receptionist duties as necessary. Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages, and provides information. 5. Obtains, verifies, and updates patient information and provides support services to patients, families, and medical staff Note: The intent of this list of primary duties is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this job. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upon departmental needs. **EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE** - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred - Minimum of two years of experience in a medical office setting; knowledge of medical terminology is required - Accurate typing and data entry skills - Excellent organization skills - Basic knowledge of software used by department - Knowledge of general customer service practices - Ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with team members and public - Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment *Total Rewards* The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
