**Come join our team! We are hiring!** We are currently hiring a **Medical Assistant** in Milwaukee, WI. This is a full-time position that **does not** require working holidays. **Why Progressive Community Health Centers?** Founded in 1999, Progressive Community Health Centers is an independent non-profit organization that operates four clinic locations in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. More than 100 employees support our agency's mission to improve the health and quality of life of the community by providing culturally competent services that address identified needs. We provide high quality, comprehensive care to roughly 16,000 patients annually, a majority of who are low-income. No one is ever turned away from our clinics based on insurance status or ability to pay. We value a patient-centered philosophy and provide range of services that include family medicine, internal medicine, women's health, urgent care, dental, radiology and integrated behavioral health. We also offer supportive services such as case management, health education and benefits enrollment. **Summary** Works under the Practice Manager to support medical staff with patient exams and treatment by performing clinical tasks. Keeps rooms ready, operates equipment, and administers injections and specimen handling. **Responsibilities** **Service** – Assisting and supporting staff, patients, and the community. 1. Inform scheduled patients of any delays due to physician's lateness, emergencies, schedule backup, etc. 2. Anticipates need for assessment and monitoring of patients prior to and during examination, treatment, emergency, acute illness, or procedure. 3. Provides a caring environment. Able to deal empathetically with patients' needs and questions. Must be an excellent verbal communicator and project a professional image. **Compassion** – Recognizing areas requiring relief with empathy and care for others. 1. Greets, assesses, and interviews patients. 2. Obtains past medical, surgical history, family history, social history, and complete set of vital signs. Reviews current medications, allergy history, and brief interrogation of chief complaint. 3. Acts as liaison between Provider and patient. **Empowerment** – Acting as a leader and fostering professional growth among other staff. 1. Prepares and assists patients for examination/treatment by medical staff. 2. Able to staff within the Primary Care department. 3. Maintains patient confidentiality. **Quality** – Pursuing excellence in all endeavors. 1. Obtaining vital signs 2. Audiogram 3. Phlebotomy – butterfly, venous heel stick 4. Specimen collection 5. Giving injections/immunizations 6. Performing EKG 7. CLIA waived point of care testing 8. Nebulizer treatments 9. Administering medications **KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS** 1. Knowledge of injection levels and procedures, for both children and adults. 2. Knowledge of universal precautions and blood bourne pathogens. 3. Ability to document clearly, patient vital signs and chief complaint, as well as pay close attention to charting detail. 4. Ability to relate well to people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. 5. Ability to manage patient flow in a fast paced clinic environment. 6. Willingness to work flexible hours in order to meet patient care needs/demands. **EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE** High school graduate or equivalent, with completion of a Medical Assistant program, from an accredited school or training program. EPIC experience is preferred. Experience in community health, public health, or in a community hospital is preferred. **It is mandatory that all employees, employed providers and volunteers are vaccinated. All hired candidates must submit proof of vaccination prior to their orientation. This is a mandatory requirement for Progressive Community Health Centers.
