**Job Title:** Medical Assistant Float **Department:** Medical **FLSA Status:** Non-Exempt **Reports To:** Director of Nursing **Hours/Locations:** Tuesday-Friday 7:30am to 6:00pm, Redding and Round Mountain **POSITION SUMMARY:** Under limited supervision, will travel to all Round Mountain and Redding locations to perform triage of client needs per protocol as needed; prepares patient assist medications for dispensing to patient; processes new chronic pain clients per protocol; participates in referral processes including tracking; assist medical team with client care in clinic as needed; assists LVN’s and RN’s with dispensary services as needed; assist upper management with quality assurance; planning and implementing strategic goals. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned which may become essential to the position. - Maintain general appearance, cleanliness and supply inventory of the exam rooms, lab, and nurse’s station. - Monitor and update as needed patients’ height, weight, vital signs, chronic meds (including strength and dosing schedule - Record reason for visit - Prepare patient for examination/procedure; assist in treatment of patient as directed by clinician - Give certain medications/injections, including routine vaccinations, under clinician’s written order - Perform routine, CLIA-waived lab procedures (including venipuncture); collect and prepare specimens for transport to lab - Instruct patients regarding preparation for special tests - Daily logging of Lab and Med’s refrigerator/freezers’ temperatures - Assist in receiving and stocking medications, medication samples and supplies. Check monthly for outdated meds and lab diagnostic supplies. Assist in maintaining inventory of all medical supplies - Perform periodic testing and calibration of lab diagnostic materials and medical equipment, log as appropriate - Perform finger-sticks, skin test, throat swabs, EKGs, and ear lavage under supervision of clinician - Call patients with normal lab/test results, or abnormal results per written clinician instruction - Send in refill prescriptions as directed by clinician - Enter CHDP/Immunizations into the INNC Registry and assist in the recall system - Autoclaving and maintenance of sterile surgical instruments and supplies **Certificates and Licenses:** Medical Assistant certification is desired within six months of employment. Vision Screening and Audiometry Screening certification. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before individuals, groups or employees of organization. **Math Ability:** Must have basic math skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
