Please follow these steps: Step OneStep Two Media Assistant Purpose Statement The job of Media Assistant is done for the purpose/s of assisting in maintaining library collection at the school site by implementing age appropriate programs for students utilizing library resources; selecting appropriate items in support of classroom instructing and instructing students on the proper use of the library resources. Essential Functions Assists teachers, students, and other personnel for the purpose of identifying resource materials for use in classroom and/or class assignments. Conducts classes in a variety of formats (e.g. Storytelling, puppet plays, etc.) For the purpose of promoting the use and enjoyment of literature (as assigned). Coordinates media requests of individual sites for the purpose of ensuring availability of audio visual equipment for instructional use. Distributes various books and media for the purpose of providing requested classroom reference materials. Instructs students for the purpose of educating them on the proper use of the library resources (e.g. electronic resources, card catalog, care of materials, etc.). Maintains library in a neat and orderly fashion for the purpose of ensuring an environment conducive to learning. Monitors students in library for the purpose of providing for the safety and welfare of students. Performs minor repairs for the purpose of ensuring the availability of books and audio/visual equipment. Prepares written materials (e.g. overdue notices, purchase orders, etc.) For the purpose of providing documentation and/or an up-to-date reference trail. Processes books, magazines and/or orders (e.g. Shelving, check in/out, place orders, receive supplies, etc.) For the purpose of maintaining library collection controls. Promotes library use related to special holidays, seasonal activities, etc. for the purpose of motivating students to use library resources. Other Functions Oversees aides and/or volunteers for the purpose of achieving department objectives. Job Requirements Mental Requirements Learning Development- Level B Sufficient to read and write technical information and instructions, perform basic arithmetic calculations, understand commonly used procedures and methods, or operate equipment that requires some training. Learning development is equivalent to completion of a high school curriculum. Problem Solving - Level 1 Work situations are routine and regularly recurring, requiring attention and concentration, but limited discretion, consideration, and planning to adequately respond and carry out work activities. Physical Requirements Physical Skill - Level A Basic level of learned physical skill is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.
