About Neuralink: We are creating devices that enable a bi-directional interface with the brain. These devices allow us to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize how humans interact with their digital world. Team Description: The Brain Interfaces Mechanical Engineering Team is responsible for the design, build, and testing of all mechanical systems in our implant and charger. Our team also develops test infrastructure to accelerate hardware development and manufacturing, designs electronics packaging for our charger and implant electronics, and creates tooling to interface the implant with the surgical robot. Job Description and Responsibilities: As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will support the design and production of hardware solutions for our brain-computer interface devices, including components for surgical robotics, automation, microfabrication, and more. You will have the opportunity to contribute to projects at various stages from concept through production, applying your mechanical engineering knowledge in the challenging field of brain-computer interfaces. Additionally, you will be expected to: Design, build, test, and validate systems for the implant and related hardware components Develop and improve manufacturing processes and equipment to support in-house production Scope, design and iterate custom tooling and fixturing required for the implant assembly line Work with Quality, Electrical Engineering, BCI Software, Microfabrication, and Surgery Engineering to define system requirements, verification and validation tests, and more Adhere to aggressive project schedules and ensure timely completion from inception to implementation Required Qualifications: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field 6+ months of relevant academic coursework or project experience 9+ months of experience applying technical skills outside the classroom (e.g., personal projects, prior internships, or work experience) 1+ years of Mechanical Design experience Strong understanding of engineering first principles Effective written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications: 1+ years of mechanical engineering industry experience, including owning products from concept to production Familiarity with machining and rapid prototyping technologies Experience with precision design and manufacturing Exposure to medical device design and manufacturing Pay Transparency: The following details are for Texas individuals only.
