**Job Summary:** The primary responsibility of the Mechanical Design Engineer is to design pumps and parts, as well as prepare various drawings and documentation associated with the fabrication and assembly processes. This position shall also serve as a working team member and individual contributor to the team's overall success. **Typical Duties and Responsibilities:** - Create technical drawings of pumps, parts and equipment - Generate machine drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings and Bills of Material - Review specifications and data sheets to ensure requirements are adequately defined and documented - Perform design calculations including those related to mechanics and strength of materials - Complete design changes and upgrades to existing products - Prepare product drawings for marketing department as required - Work with design and production team to resolve issues, implement processes, and meet product release schedules - Assist with internal quality control processes as well as vendor quality product reviews - Provide technical support to manufacturing and sales staff - Provide administrative aid to the engineering department as needed - Complete other engineering tasks and responsibilities as identified - Ensure that The Mersino Way is a guiding document in all daily activities **Qualifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Aided Design and Drafting or equivalent experience - Skilled in 3D CAD modeling of complex geometry, preferably in SolidWorks - Working knowledge of AutoCAD - Proficiency in creating manufacturing drawings for cast parts, machined parts or fabricated parts - Ability to read and interpret technical drawings - Experience with Bill of Material creation - Machine design experience and demonstrable mechanical aptitude - Experience in manufacturing and fabrication of rotating equipment - Planning and organizational skills in handling multiple projects - Proficient in MS Office and other required PC software applications **Specific Expectations:** - Ability to work effectively with others - Ability to multi-task in a changing environment - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Strongly self-motivated, ability to perform tasks - Strong time management and organizational skills - Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward **Disclaimer:** The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
