We currently employ over 1,800 employees company wide and over the years we have expanded throughout the Midwest. **Job Summary** The Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician will diagnose and repair diesel engines and other powertrain components, air brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems. **Hours and Wages** - Monday-Friday, - $20.00-$33.00 per hour, based on experience - +$2.00 per hour shift differential for overnight positions - Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week **Duties and Responsibilities** - Ability to use scan tool and laptop technology - Follow reasonable instructions from shift leader - Ability to work independently and/ or with team - Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment - Help maintain an effective and clean work environment - Must have own tools or ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functions - Perform other related duties as assigned **Skills and Abilities** - Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required - Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn **Education and Experience** - At least 18 years of age - High school diploma or equivalent preferred - 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred - Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR be willing to successfully complete Company paid CDL training program **Physical Requirements** - Ability to lift up to 75 pounds - Ability to pass a DOT physical exam - Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet - Work environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive - Work environment may involve hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair **Benefits** - Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) Plan, Quarterly Bonuses, and more. **EEO and Affirmative Action Statement** Spee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
