Perform preventative maintenance work to a wide-range of vehicles and equipment, such as automobiles, vans, and trucks (light, medium, and commercial regulated vehicles), and light to medium construction and agricultural equipment. Cut, solder, braze, and weld various metal materials. Perform maintenance and repair to heating and air-conditioning systems. Occasionally performing vehicle wash activities that include vacuuming interiors, scrubbing and washing exteriors, and/or steam cleaning engines, mechanical components, etc. Assist with machinist activities to fabricate parts for equipment such as bushings, sleeves, and assist with refurbishing or constructing specialized vehicles and equipment by performing the following duties: **What You'll Be Doing:** - Confer with customer to obtain a description of the vehicle problem. - Analyze simple work orders, diagrams, specifications, oral instructions, and general requirements to estimate material needs, acquire resources, allocate tasks, and define project parameters. - Use appropriate protective materials over seats, carpets, fenders, hoods, etc. to protect the interior and exterior surfaces while performing work. - Use manufacturer specifications, blueprints, charts, reports, and related digital service manuals to diagnose systems and components. - Perform routine safety inspections on new vehicles and equipment. - Perform standard quarterly and annual preventative maintenance by following the vehicle inspection checklist to ensure all critical components are examined, including belts, hoses, steering rods, spark plugs, brake pads, fuel filters, wheels, tires, and other potentially problematic areas. - Change a variety of filters including cabin, air, oil, fuel, hydraulic, and coolant. - Install, repair, and maintain accessories and equipment including light bars, safety screens, windshields, cargo racks, and other equipment. - Diagnose and repair steering axles, including wheel bearings, tie-rods, springs, hangars, oil seals, shock absorbers, and related parts and equipment. - Diagnose, maintain, repair, replace, and/or adjust brake systems including wheel cylinders, brake calipers, master cylinders, disc pads, brake shoes, and machine (turn) drums and rotors for hydraulic and/or air brake systems. - Diagnose, maintain, and repair irregularities with tires, wheels, and/or tubes. - Diagnose and repair drive axles, drive train components (transmissions), belts, gears, chain drives, clutches, and propeller shafts. - Cut a variety of metal materials using a chop saw, band saw, and/or plasma cutter. - Braze, solder, or weld a variety of metal materials using an oxygen-acetylene torch, electric arc, and/or a metal-inert gas, tungsten-inert gas welder. - Cut, weld, fabricate, and assemble parts for automotive and custom equipment; fabricate, modify and repair body and chassis parts as needed. - Diagnose, maintain, and repair the primary electrical system components such as ignition systems, computers, alternators, starters, and batteries. - Diagnose, maintain, and repair secondary electrical system components, including gauges, sending units, relays, switches, light bulbs, and high voltage light systems. - Diagnose, maintain and repair air conditioning, heating, and ventilation systems, and replace components such as belts, refrigerant compressors, air-driers, pressure switches, electric fans, and ensure the system has sufficient refrige…
