The Position: The Material Handler will transport materials, supplies, and finished products to designated locations. ## Responsibilities **WHAT YOU’LL DO** - Receives, distributes, and stores products as directed in designated, secure locations. - Prepares and maintains records of materials received and shipped including dates of transactions, locations, and other pertinent information. - Reviews shipments for quality and accuracy; reviews accompanying documents for accuracy. - Confirms shipping details or special instructions; expedites shipments that affect the manufacturing process schedule. - Transports and loads materials, supplies, and finished goods (manually and/or using hand trucks and skids). - Optimizing loads to ensure operational efficiency. - Securing loads to machine before transportation. - When problems arise, resolves issues with contractors or vendors. - Manages inventory by utilizing RFGen scanning equipment. - Identifies and reporting workplace safety hazards. - Maintains cleanliness of assigned area and surrounding areas. - Works closely with leaders and other employees in a team environment. - Must obtain valid fork truck license and certification within first 30 days of employment. - Collects and properly disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping; maintains a safe and clean work environment. - Follows all Great Dane safety requirements when transporting loads and otherwise. - Ensures fork truck safety inspection sheet is completed daily. - Performs other related duties as assigned. ## Qualifications **YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)** - Employee must be able to accurately read a tape measure. - Employee must be able to remember how to perform multiple tasks from day to day. - Employee must be able to perform the physical requirements listed in that section of this job description. - Employee must look for potential cost savings in the work process, help keep scrap and waste to a minimum and be efficient in use of all supplies. - The employee must perform the assigned tasks in a way they meet or exceed the required production level. - 1-2 years of previous fork truck experience preferred. - 1-2 years of previous experience working with a scan gun preferred. - Ability to work with hands. - Aptitude to learn and retain new information. - Ability to follow instructions, given either verbally or in writing. - Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. - Ability to communicate effectively in English. - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. - Good math skills. - Efficient time management skills. **PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:** - Office and plant environment. - Keyboarding, lifting, standing, bending, walking. - Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Ability to stand and move about on concrete 8-10 hours a day.
