Mascot Performer/Handler

## Description **Primary Customers:** UBTech service region **Supervision Exercised:** None **Reports To:** Vice President of Marketing and Communications **Job Focus:** Under the direction of the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, the Mascot Performer/Handler represents UBTech at college and community appearances. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing 2. Ability to respond to the UBTech customers effectively and efficiently; internal and external 3. Ability to present to large groups of people 4. Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including educators, employers, and community 5. Possess organizational skills 6. Ability to work independently and in a team environment 7. Must be able to adapt and work effectively under pressure 8. Ability to provide excellent customer relations 9. Ability to follow various processes and procedures 10. Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position **Responsibilities and Tasks:** 1. Assists team members in student recruitment activities as initiated and assigned 2. Will be required to work daytime, evenings, and weekends 3. Travel will be required for recruiting and other marketing purposes 4. Training will be provided and required **As a Mascot** 1. Represents UBTech and Tek the Titan in a professional, enthusiastic and positive manner 2. Performs at college and community events 3. Assists in creating skits, videos, and other creative content related to the mascot 4. Preserves the identity of the mascot without deviating from established character 5. Maintains and care for all mascot costumers as well as props and equipment 6. Performs with high energy and enthusiasm 7. Performs with frequent physical body movement, standing and walking for extended periods of time 8. Ability to manage hot and humid environments, work performed will include outdoor and indoor events **As a Handler** 1. Must be focused and responsible for guiding the mascot in a variety of physical condition to ensure the safety of the mascot, and those around the mascot 2. Be the voice of the mascot and assist in engaging the audience and creating a fun environment 3. Be able to think quickly and look for opportunities to guide performers to best engage people and create a fun environment 4. Assisting performer with costume, navigation, hydration, and any other duties that will be difficult for the performer while in costume 5. Inventory the costume before and after the performance 6. Keep the performer on schedule and monitor breaks for the performer **This is a non-benefited position.** ## Requirements **Minimum Qualifications:** 1. High School Diploma 2. Must successfully pass criminal background check 3. Valid driver's license **Preferred Qualifications:** 1. Technical Certificate or equivalent 2. Experience in social media 3. Experience and enjoys performing, presenting, or being in the spotlight **Working Schedule:** On-Call/As-Needed.
