**Gulf Marine Repair is currently looking for a Marine Electrician.** **Job Summary** Gulf Marine is seeking a skilled **Marine Electrician** responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment aboard vessels and offshore marine assets. The role includes installing shipboard cabling, electrical distribution systems, navigation equipment, lighting, control panels, communication systems, and associated electrical components in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, class requirements, and safety standards. The Marine Electrician will interpret electrical drawings, perform electrical testing and commissioning, diagnose faults, and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Gulf Marine's quality standards. **Key Responsibilities** - Install, terminate, test, and repair marine electrical wiring, cables, conduits, cable trays, and electrical equipment. - Install electrical systems based on approved cable routing plans, wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings. - Install and commission: - Main and emergency switchboards - Motor control centers (MCC) - Distribution panels - Lighting systems - Navigation and bridge equipment - Radar and communication systems - Fire detection and alarm systems - Control panels and instrumentation - Route, secure, identify, and terminate electrical cables in accordance with marine standards. - Install conduits, cable supports, cable glands, junction boxes, and electrical fittings. - Perform electrical testing including insulation resistance, continuity, voltage, phase rotation, and functional testing using appropriate test equipment. - Diagnose and repair faults in electrical systems, motors, transformers, generators, lighting, and associated equipment. - Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, and installation layouts. - Assemble and install electrical panels and control cabinets according to specifications. - Ensure compliance with project quality requirements, marine regulations, and electrical codes. - Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on shipboard electrical systems. - Maintain accurate work records and complete assigned work orders within project schedules. - Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to ensure efficient project execution. - Maintain good housekeeping practices and ensure work areas remain safe and organized. - Follow all Gulf Marine HSE policies, permit-to-work systems, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. - Use appropriate PPE and ensure compliance with all safety regulations. **Qualifications** - Minimum **3-5 years of experience** as a Marine Electrician or Industrial Electrician. - Experience working in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore, or marine construction environments is preferred. - Formal electrical apprenticeship, technical diploma, or equivalent vocational training is an advantage. - Ability to successfully pass a practical electrical skills assessment. **Knowledge & Skills** - Strong knowledge of marine electrical installation practices. - Ability to read and interpret: - Electrical drawings - Cable schedules - Wiring diagrams - Single-line diagrams - Equipment layout drawings - Knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems. - Familiarity with marine cable routing, cable penetrations, cable tray installation, and cable terminations. - Knowledge of switchboards, distribution panels, transformers, motors, generators, and control systems. - Proficiency in using electrical testing instruments including: - Multimeters - Insulation resistance testers (Megger) - Clamp meters - Phase rotation testers - Continuity testers - Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults efficiently. - Understanding of marine safety requirements and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. - Ability to accurately identify electrical wiring by color coding. - Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. - Good communi…
