Maintenance Technician

JSM Living is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our growing team. We manage a diverse portfolio of residential apartments and commercial properties throughout the Champaign-Urbana area and were voted a 2026 Best of CU winner for Best Leasing Company. We are looking for someone with experience in HVAC service, appliance repair, property maintenance, or skilled trades work. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting problems, working hands-on, and taking pride in delivering quality service to residents and tenants. We are especially interested in candidates with HVAC, refrigeration, appliance repair, electrical, or mechanical experience who are looking for a stable, full-time position with strong benefits and consistent hours. **Key Responsibilities** - Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial maintenance issues - Service and repair HVAC systems, appliances, plumbing fixtures, and electrical components - Perform appliance repairs, including refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, washers, and dryers - Complete preventive maintenance and property inspections - Respond to maintenance work orders efficiently and professionally - Repair plumbing leaks, door hardware, lighting fixtures, drains, and other building systems - Replace HVAC filters and assist with seasonal HVAC maintenance - Accurately document labor, materials, and completed work using electronic systems - Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in clean working order - Participate in an on-call rotation and occasional overtime as needed **What We're Looking For** - Minimum 2 years of experience in maintenance, HVAC, appliance repair, mechanical work, or related skilled trades - HVAC certification, EPA certification, appliance repair experience, or trade school experience preferred - Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills - Reliable attendance and strong work ethic - Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities - Professional communication with residents, coworkers, and vendors - Valid driver’s license required - Ability to lift equipment and work in indoor/outdoor environments **Compensation & Benefits** - Hourly starting rate - $23-$34 per hour - Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance - Paid time off and holidays - Paid day off for your birthday - 401(k) with company match - Paid weekly - Stable, year-round full-time work The starting hourly range for this position reflects a good-faith estimate of compensation at the time of this posting.
