EP Gerber & Sons Inc now consists of four divisions: Gerber Lumber & Hardware (GLH), Gerber Wood Products (GWP), Hillside Hardware (HH), and Solid Dimensions. **Benefits & Job Details:** - Full Benefits-Medical/Dental/Vision/STD/LTD/Life, 401K, HSA - 10D PTO & 10D Holiday - Profit-Sharing Plan - Employee Discount - Work Schedule: 6:00 am-4:30 pm M-TH - Status-FT position - Overtime periodically occurs - Works on-site - Reports to the Facilities & Maintenance Manager **Job Summary:** The Maintenance Specialist 1 is responsible for carrying out preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance across GWP’s equipment and facilities. **Duties and Responsibilities:** - Perform basic cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of machinery. - Perform routine maintenance and light repairs on plant machinery. - Maintain and organize inventory levels and communicate needs to the Maintenance Manager. - Conduct safety inspections on fire extinguishers and sprinkler systems. - Maintain and update maintenance logs and shared project list. - Monitor and maintain air compressors and dust systems. - Assist in shop clean-up and organization daily. - Perform routine unlock, lockup, startup, and shutdown procedures. - Participate in the setup and relocation of new equipment. - Assist with corrective maintenance as needed at Gerber Lumber & Hardware and other facilities, as well as some routine/preventative maintenance. **Credentials, Education, and Experience:** - High school diploma or equivalent work experience. - Mechanical aptitude; willing to learn equipment maintenance. - Familiarity with industrial equipment. - Forklift certification required or willingness to obtain. **Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:** - Basic safety awareness. - Dependable and able to follow directions. - Good communication, mathematical, and mechanical skills. - Ability to work with a variety of tools and equipment. - Able to work well with minimal supervision. **Environment and Physical Working Conditions:** - Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 25-75 lbs frequently. - Work also requires the ability to constantly climb, reach, pull, stoop, crawl, and bend. - Exposure to fumes, odors, and loud noise—must wear safety gear including eye protection, ear protection, safety shoes, and a respirator when necessary. - Work indoors in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and moisture fluctuations.
