**General Statement of Duties** This non-exempt position is responsible for the mechanical operation, repair, maintenance and preventative maintenance of the District’s water and wastewater equipment and facilities. Assists in new mechanical installations at District facilities. **Supervision Received** Works under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor and under the general directions of the Maintenance Superintendent. **Primary Duties and Responsibilities** - Performs unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled maintenance duties on District water and wastewater facilities and equipment. Duties include, but not limited to, replacing filters in various systems; setting operational parameters; repairing or rebuilding pumps, HVAC units, air compressors, chemical systems and valves. - Maintains equipment, maintenance files, parts inventory and procurement, forecasting reports and reports on completed work orders. - Operates construction, maintenance, heavy equipment and other mechanized equipment and hand tools to complete tasks such as repairing underground valves and pipes and the placement of pumps and valves in system. - Document work in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including updating, opening and closing work orders. - May assist with reviewing submittals, providing recommendations for capital projects, and participating in regular progress meetings. - Performs routine and non-routine inspections of equipment. - Maintains equipment records using the maintenance software program. Performs data entry and programming and develops and modifies preventative maintenance schedules to optimize operational time and minimize down time. - Handles hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals during repair operations, delivery, storage and use. - Specifies and sources mechanical equipment. Maintains mechanical supply inventory and records. - Routinely performs physical cleanup and housekeeping of work areas, equipment and buildings using standard cleaning equipment and materials. - Attends technical and safety training meetings, courses and seminars as required. - Performs additional duties as assigned. **Knowledge, Skills & Abilities** - Working knowledge of industrial maintenance and repair activities. Basic operating skill of heavy equipment such as forklifts, and cranes. - Basic knowledge of preventative maintenance, inspections, servicing and repair of equipment and machinery. - Working knowledge of the principles of pump hydraulics and the mechanics of machinery. - Working knowledge of safety procedures and use of personal protective equipment and ability to apply safety principles on all job tasks. Ability to anticipate unsafe circumstances; act accordingly to prevent accidents and promptly report accidents and hazardous conditions. - Basic computer knowledge including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. - Basic knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and SCADA systems. - Ability to recognize, diagnose, identify and repair faulty operational functions of water and wastewater equipment. - Ability to focus attention on tasks, which may be complex, routine or repetitive without losing concentration or becoming distracted by external activities.
