**DEPARTMENT:** Machining Center **REPORTS TO:** Engineering Manager **STATUS:** Non-Exempt **LOCATION:** Houston, TX 77086 **JOB SUMMARY:** The Machine Shop Technician plays a pivotal role on our manufacturing team, specializing in operating CNC lathes to fulfill machining work orders. This position is critical to meeting production requirements and demands precision, craftsmanship, and strict adherence to safety protocols. The Machine Shop Technician will have the opportunity to expand their technical skills through cross-training on various machines. **RESPONSIBILITIES:** - Operate CNC machines to produce machined components based on dimensional drawings and blueprints. - Execute tasks with exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship. - Showcase a strong mechanical aptitude and a quick ability to learn new skills. - Prioritize safety at all times, adhering to the machine shop and manufacturing safety practices. - Collaborate seamlessly with team members to ensure efficient production workflows. - Exhibit dependability and a strong work ethic within a minimum 40-hour work week. - Demonstrate effective communication skills in English, both written and spoken. - Perform tasks that may involve lifting materials weighing up to 50 lbs. while standing throughout the day. - Utilize basic Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and email skills for documentation. - Embrace problem-solving and adaptability in a dynamic work environment. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:** - Familiarity with CNC machining, particularly Haas models. - Proficiency in interpreting and understanding dimensional drawings and blueprints. - Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship in machining tasks. - Demonstrated mechanical aptitude through prior experience or education. - Quick learner with the ability to rapidly acquire new skills. - Basic knowledge of machine shop and manufacturing safety practices. - Self-motivated with a strong ability to work independently. - Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and dedication to the role. - Effective communication skills in English (both reading and speaking). - Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods. **PREFERRED SKILLS:** - Prior experience operating manual lathes and/or mills. - Experience with live tooling is a plus. - Proficiency in machining software and intermediate to advanced GD&T understanding. - Comfort with hands-on mechanical activities. - Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. - Exposure to a factory/production/manufacturing setting is beneficial. - Willingness to learn CNC programming for mills or lathes. - Strong problem-solving aptitude and a proactive approach to challenges.
