Works with clearly defined, established instructions and support from the Unit Specialist or trainer. The position is responsible for set-up and operation of various manual/CNC machines, secondary machinery and polish equipment. **JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** - Sets up and operates various machines and tools with moderate supervision while using required personal protective equipment (PPE) Tasks and equipment include: - Cylinder assembly test equipment - Saw equipment - Presetter - Bridgeport - Manual brake - Drill press - Solder equipment - Routinely produces and inspects production parts to a blueprint, operational note, and/or standard work instruction using proper inspection methods and tools to achieve and maintain quality standards. May train Machine Operator I. - Completes all documentation that is required for the position to comply with policies and procedures. - Achieves and maintains established safety, quality, and productivity standards. Must not pose a risk to self or others. - Performs routine total preventative maintenance (TPM) including lubrication and cleaning on assigned equipment. - Safely and efficiently routes parts using material handling equipment. - Works within a multi-shift organization to maintain a neat and organized workstation, effective communication and a collaborative team environment. - Actively engages and participates in department continuous improvement efforts and lean initiatives. - Effectively interprets production, can predict flow for high level output. - May operate computer numerical control (CNC) lathes, CNC mills, CNC brake, numeric control (NC) welder, and machining centers for proven programs with trainer. **QUALIFICATIONS:** **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** - Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English with a demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions. - Must possess basic to moderate computer skills. - Demonstrated ability to perform math calculations with an understanding of decimal/fraction equivalence. - Able to interpret job-related blueprints and work instructions. - Demonstrated ability to effectively inspect assigned work using precision measuring equipment; micrometers, bore gages, manual or video comparators, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), or special equipment as required allowing for mobility within the department. May train others on equipment use. - Completed proper material handling testing requirements. - Must be able to identify most tool and material types. - Must be able to troubleshoot problems when necessary to achieve permanent resolution. - Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources effectively. **Education and Experience** - Typically requires a minimum of 1 year machining experience and fulfilling all the minimum requirements of a Machine Operator I. **Physical Requirements:** Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc. Ability to wear respiratory protection and comply with OSHA’s respi…
