**JOB SUMMARY:** The LTL Manager, reporting directly to the Vice President, will lead the development and expansion of Action Enterprise Logistics’ (AEL) Less Than Truckload (LTL) division. This role is essential for establishing a robust network of regional and national LTL providers, developing comprehensive operational procedures, and ensuring seamless IT integrations with carrier networks, AEL, and ultimately our clients. The LTL Manager will educate and train existing staff and new hires on LTL best practices, negotiate contracts and tariffs, manage the LTL operations team, assist in LTL sales processes, and execute RFP/CSP requests. The successful candidate will be responsible for overall LTL growth within the organization, while driving operational efficiency by leveraging strategic relationships and optimizing LTL services. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** - Create significant growth within the LTL division of AEL by identifying new business opportunities, optimizing operations, and leveraging strategic partnerships to increase market share and revenue. - Develop robust relationships with LTL carriers to ensure reliable service, foster strong partnerships, produce competitive pricing, and enhance collaborative opportunities for mutual growth. - Establish and expand the network of regional and national LTL providers, enhancing AEL’s service capabilities. - Collaborate with the IT department and carriers to integrate carrier networks and streamline LTL operations. - Develop and implement detailed operational procedures for LTL, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all processes. - Educate existing staff and new hires on LTL best practices and operations, ensuring a high level of competency and understanding. - Facilitate the negotiation of contracts and tariffs with LTL carriers, securing favorable terms for AEL. - Manage a team responsible for all LTL operations, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. - Support the sales team by identifying and developing LTL opportunities, participating in sales presentations, and providing strategic insights. - Complete RFP/CSP requests for LTL, ensuring accurate and competitive proposals. - Monitor industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities, providing actionable insights to drive LTL performance. - Maintain consistent and efficient reporting practices, leveraging CRM and TMS systems to track activities and interactions. **EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:** - Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience demonstrating strong logistics acumen. - Minimum of five years of experience in LTL, showcasing a track record of managing carrier relationships and operational efficiency. - Minimum of three years of experience in a management role, overseeing all aspects of people management. - Ability to travel up to 20% of the time in order to further develop carrier relationships and customer opportunities. - Proven ability to negotiate contracts, forge and manage relationships with LTL carriers to optimize service and cost-efficiency. - 3PL experience is highly desired. - Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a keen attention to detail and follow-through. - Self-motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to build rapport and manage a team effectively. - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, adapting quickly to changing priorities and demands. - Proficiency in technical comprehension and the ability to effectively communicate complex information to internal and external stakeholders. - Demonstrated proficiency in professional communication, including telephone etiquette, computer literacy, and business correspondence. - Experience using industry standard tools and platforms, with the ability to input, maintain, and update information accurately.
