Perform rekeying, master keying, and security hardware installation while supporting a safe and secure environment. ## **Position Details** **Position Title:** Locksmith **College/Division:** Facilities and Services **Department:** 500730-FS ACCESS CONTROL **Location:** Las Cruces **Offsite Location (if applicable):** **Target Hourly/Salary Rate:** $16.83 **Appointment Full-time Equivalency:** 1.0 **FLSA Status**: Non-Exempt **Bargaining Unit Announcement:** This is a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME). **Contingent Upon Funding:** Not Applicable **Standard Work Schedule:** Standard (M-F, 8-5) **If Not a Standard Work Schedule:** **Job Duties and Responsibilities:** Designs, fabricates, installs, maintains, repairs and modifies locking systems, security hardware, and access control devices for buildings, equipment, vehicles, and other secured areas. Performs mechanical and electronic locksmith work including rekeying, master keying, lock repair, and installation of locks, door hardware, safes, and security devices. Operates key-cutting machines, lock-picking tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Analyzes plans, drawings, specifications, security requirements, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequencing. Estimates materials and labor and recommends supplies and materials to be ordered. ## **Qualifications** **Required Education and Experience:**High School diploma or higher degree. **Equivalent Qualifications:** **Preferred Qualifications:** **Special Certification/Licensure:** ## **Working Conditions and Physical Effort** **Environment:** Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. **Physical Effort:** Moderate physical activity. **Lifting Requirements:** Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day. **Risk:** Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
