Dircks Moving & Logistics is seeking a Driver who acts as a crew leader, directs loading of furniture into van, drives truck to specified destination, and unloads contents by performing the following duties. **WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING** 1. **Driving Commercial Vehicles:** Class D drivers must be qualified to operate a wide range of commercial vehicles, including straight trucks, pick up trucks with trailers, flatbed trucks, stake-bed trucks, and other large vehicles commonly used in the moving and logistics sectors. They must adhere to safety regulations and drive these vehicles with care. 2. **Loading and Unloading:** Depending on the specific assignment, drivers may be involved in loading and unloading goods onto and off of their trucks. This may require the use of equipment like pallet jacks, forklifts, or hand trucks. This may also include pad wrapping, strapping, and securing items to be transported. Responsible for distributing weight evenly, forming compact loads, and properly utilizing space. 3. **Transporting Goods:** The primary duty of a driver is to transport goods from one location to another. This often involves regional deliveries, or local distribution, depending on the company's needs. 4. **Route Planning:** drivers are responsible for planning their routes efficiently to ensure timely deliveries while optimizing fuel consumption and minimizing travel time. 5. **Vehicle Maintenance:** Drivers are required to perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as conducting pre-trip inspections, checking for mechanical issues, and ensuring that their vehicles are in safe working condition. 6. **Documentation:** Keeping and accurately completing records of deliveries, BOLS, inventories, weight tickets, logs, and any incidents or maintenance performed on the vehicle is crucial for compliance with industry regulations. 7. **Customer Interaction:** In the moving and logistics industries, drivers often have direct contact with customers. They must maintain a professional and customer-friendly demeanor when interacting with clients during deliveries or pickups. 8. **Compliance:** Drivers must adhere to all federal and state regulations, including hours of service (HOS) requirements, weight limits, and safety standards. 9. **Safety:** Safety is a top priority for drivers. They are required to obey all federal and state laws and regulations. Follow company safety programs. Adheres to hours of service. 10. **Teamwork:** In some cases, drivers may work as part of a larger team of movers or logistics personnel. High School or GED; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
