You’ll challenge advanced language models on topics such as thematic interpretation, narrative structure, authorial style, symbolism, historical context, genre conventions, and close reading—documenting failure modes so we can strengthen model reasoning and interpretive accuracy. On a typical day, you will engage the model with literary passages, analytical questions, and interpretation tasks; verify factual accuracy and coherence; evaluate the depth and validity of literary analysis; capture reproducible error traces; and provide structured feedback to improve prompts, evaluation criteria, and reasoning quality. A degree in literature, English, comparative literature, or a related humanities field is preferred but not required. Teaching experience, academic research, editorial work, or extensive reading and writing experience are all valuable indicators of fit. Clear, metacognitive communication—explicitly articulating reasoning and interpretive steps (“showing your work”)—is essential.
