Literacy Curriculum Resource Teacher/Reading Coach - JOB# 4531 JobID: 4531 Position Type: Middle School Teaching/Resource Teacher Date Posted: 7/13/2026 Location: Avon Park Middle Closing Date: 07/24/2026 Additional Information: Show/Hide THE SCHOOL BOARD OF HIGHLANDS COUNTY POSITION TITLE: Literacy Curriculum Resource Teacher (LCRT)/Reading Coach ASSIGNMENT: Literacy Curriculum Resource Teacher (LCRT)/Reading Coach MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A valid Florida Educator's certificate 2. Three (3) years of successful experience in teaching 3. Knowledge of curriculum and/or discipline program design, implementation and evaluation in the assigned area as reflected in job performance assessments 4. Physical Requirements: Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects 5. Satisfactory clearance of a criminal history records check and drug screening ADDITIONAL DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates holding Reading Endorsement or Reading Certification preferred PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Works with classroom teachers at school-base, for modeling of best practices lessons and providing professional development 2. Learning Environment:: a. Helps create an environment of literacy conducive to effective instruction b. Establishes a rapport and maintains construction interaction with individuals/groups c. Models behavior which depicts respect and a feeling for the dignity and worth of others regardless of race, creed, culture, or economic group d. Demonstrates ability to use teacher/student time efficiently e. Maintains instructional momentum in classroom modeling and in professional development sessions 3. Knowledge and Use of Reading Expertise: a. Demonstrates an understanding of best practices in the areas of rand and encourages teachers to apply these before, during, and after reading b. Maintains a collection of professional reading/learning materials which reflect current research c. Attends ongoing educational inservices/conferences to enhance knowledge of current research 4. Planning Assistance for Instruction: a. Assists teachers in planning, sequencing, and scaffolding of instruction b. Facilitates the integration of reading skills/strategies/technology into the classroom c. Assists teachers in the evaluation of diagnostic results and future instruction based on those results 5. Professional Development: a. Demonstrates the ability to present reading as a process rather than a series of skills and encourages lifelong learning b. Conducts meaningful and well-planned professional development c. Models techniques for effective delivery of instruction in reading classrooms (co-teaching) d. Provides inservice and follow-up coaching to teachers 6. Assessment: a. Assists in the administration and interpretation of reading progress monitoring and diagnostics b. Keeps accurate records of student scores c. Assists in formal and informal assessments and interpretation of results d. Works with teachers to design instruction as a result of progress monitoring and diagnostic results 7. Related Professional Responsibilities: a. Maintains and promptly submits accurate, completes, and correct records and required reports as required by law, by grant regulations, by district policy, and administrative regulations b. Serves as a member on curriculum leadership team, reading leadership team, and other pertinent committees c. Communicates written and/or oral information on a given topic in a coherent and logical manner d. Establishes rapport with faculty and staff e. Encourages literacy and lifelong learning f. Upholding school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies g. Attends and participates in all required meetings h.
