Performs construction, repair, and maintenance work on sewer and water lines; operates equipment and performs extensive manual labor; reads meters; performs related work as required.**SUPERVISION RECEIVED:** Works under the general supervision of the Street, Drainage & Sanitation Field Supervisor or on-site supervisor. **SUPERVISION EXERCISED:** None. 1. Operates a jackhammer, lawn mower, power saw, tapping machine, chain saw, hand tools, light trucks, assist with sewer cleaning machine, and operates a backhoe. 1. A minimum of six (6) months experience in performing construction work requiring the use of equipment similar to or the same as assigned to this position. **KNOWLEDGE:** Knowledge of routine construction maintenance and repair methods used in water distribution/wastewater collection systems; knowledge of applicable safety procedures and practices. **SKILLS:** Skill to communicate orally; skill in performing work requiring strength and agility in all weather conditions; skill in lifting heavy objects; skill in preventative and minor maintenance repair on tools and equipment; skill in operating the assigned equipment; skill in using hand tools to perform manual labor tasks. **ABILITIES:** Ability to follow oral directions; ability to identify and correct potential safety hazards; ability to manipulate things with the hands; ability to coordinate hand and foot movements; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; ability to maintain physical activity over prolonged periods of time; ability to lift, push, and load/unload heavy objects; ability to regularly lift objects approximately 50-120 pounds.
