**Facility** Westside Medical Care **Location** Fayetteville, North Carolina **Department** Westside Medical Care **Job Family** Clinics - Outpatient **Work Shift** Days (United States of America) **Summary** Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN responsible for nursing care of patients under the supervision of the office manager or physician; assists clinic personnel/patients with clinic functions. # **Major Job Functions** The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: - Participates in assessment of patient - Collaborates with departmental and interdisciplinary groups in developing the patient plan of care - Follows patient’s plan of care while participating in the direct nursing care to assigned patients - Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological needs of patients as directed by the Registered Nurse or other authorized person(s) - Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care - Administers medication as ordered by physician - Facilitates a safe environment - Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately - Maintains required competencies - Participates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors the quality of care - Establishes collaborative interpersonal relationships with other Health System staff - Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the medical regimen - Actively participates in cost containment and completes accurate charging for patient services - Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP), if applicable - Other duties as assigned # **Minimum Qualifications** The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: ## **Education and Formal Training**: - High school graduate or equivalent required - Current licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Compact state licensure ## **Work Experience**: - None ## **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required**: - Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language - Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills - Verbal and written skills required - Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of the patients typically served ## **Physical Requirements**: - Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs - Visual acuity for observation of patients - Long periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting - May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material - Must be able to lift 35 pounds **Required Licenses and Certifications** Cape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
